Mattresses are priced per piece — a mattress and a box spring count as two. The number goes up if it has to come down stairs from an upper floor and down if you have already got it in the garage or at the curb. If you have several, the per-piece price drops, because most of the cost is the truck showing up.

Bed bugs and
what to say
If there is any chance of bed bugs, tell us before we come. It is not a reason we will refuse the job — it happens, especially in rental turnovers — but it changes how we handle it. The mattress gets bagged in the room rather than carried out bare, so nothing gets shed on the way through the house.
What we cannot do is guess. A mattress carried out unbagged from an infested room drops eggs on every floor it crosses, and that is a much bigger problem than the mattress was. One sentence in your text prevents it.
On disposal: mattresses are among the worst things to landfill — mostly air, mostly non-compacting, and they tie up volume. Where a facility in the region accepts them for recycling we take them there instead. Steel springs and frames go to a metal recycler regardless.

Can you take just one mattress?
In our closer towns, yes. Farther out, a single mattress often does not justify a truck roll for either of us — we will tell you that honestly rather than quoting a number that only makes sense for us.
What if there are bed bugs?
Tell us in your first text. We will bag it in the room before it moves. It is a normal thing to run into and we would much rather know than find out.
Do I need to take it outside first?
No. Getting it out of the bedroom is the job. If it is already at the curb it is cheaper, but nobody expects you to drag a king mattress down a staircase alone.
Do you take the frame too?
Yes. Metal frames go straight to a recycler, which costs less to dispose of than the mattress does.
