What we haul

Charlestown
jobs we run

Every one of these is a service we run in Charlestown week in and week out. Follow a link for how that specific job gets priced.

Where we work in town

Charlestown,
street by street

We cover the old town grid down by the water, the newer development off Route 267, and the properties along the North East River where boat gear, dock lumber, and waterlogged storage tend to pile up. Small single-item pickups that other haulers will not bother with are worth doing here purely because of how close it is.

Where it goes

Disposal in
Cecil County

Cecil County runs its own disposal system and everything we pull out of a Charlestown property stays inside it. The Central Landfill sits at 758 East Old Philadelphia Road in Elkton, open Monday through Saturday, 7:30am to 3:30pm.

Worth knowing, because it catches people out: the county’s two transfer stations — Woodlawn on Waibel Road in Colora and Stemmer’s Run in Earleville — only take bagged household trash and recyclables. Bulky waste, furniture, construction debris and cleanout material all have to go to the Central Landfill in Elkton, no matter which corner of the county it came from. So if you were planning to run a load to whichever one is closest to you, it will get turned away at the gate.

The scale house weighs trucks in and out and charges by the ton. That is the whole reason we ask for photos before quoting: the weight of a load is most of the cost of a load, and guessing at it over the phone helps nobody.

One more thing if you are comparing haulers — Cecil County facilities will not accept waste generated outside the county, and the reverse is true too. A hauler running your Charlestown debris out of the county is paying to do it, and that shows up in your price.

Charlestown questions

Before
you call

Will you come out for just one item?

In Charlestown, yes. A single couch or fridge is usually not worth a truck roll, but you are close enough to our yard that the math works. Anywhere else on this site we would ask you to wait until you have a bit more.

Do you take dock lumber and boat junk?

Old dock boards, broken trailers, dead outboards, and rotted storage come off waterfront properties around here constantly. All of it goes. Anything holding fuel needs to be drained first — the landfill will not take a tank with gas in it.

How soon can you get to a job in Charlestown?

Usually within the week, often sooner. Text photos to 410-996-4860 and we will tell you the earliest we can be there along with the price — not a window, an actual day.

Do I have to be home when you come?

Not always. If everything is outside, in an open garage, or anywhere we can reach without going through the house, we can do the job and send you photos and an invoice afterward. For anything inside an occupied home we ask that someone is there.

What won’t you take?

No liquid waste, paint, chemicals, gasoline, propane tanks, asbestos, or medical waste. No disposal facility in the region accepts those from a hauler. We will tell you before we load rather than find out at the scale house.
