We’re a hauling company that will cut brush, not a tree service. That distinction matters and it’s worth being clear about, because it’s where people get hurt and where uninsured operators get people sued.

Brush, undergrowth, saplings, fallen limbs, and storm debris on the ground — that’s us, and we do a lot of it. Clearing a fence line that has disappeared, opening up a treeline, taking a lot back that has grown in over a decade: normal work.

A standing tree that needs to come down, anything requiring a climber or a bucket, and anything within reach of a power line is a licensed tree service with the right insurance. So is stump grinding. If a tree service has already dropped it and you need the debris gone, that’s squarely our job and a common call.

One more thing: yard waste is often accepted at different rates than general trash, and some of it can go to composting or mulching operations instead of a landfill. Where that’s an option in your county, we use it, and it keeps the price down.

Storm work is the same trade with a shorter fuse. Limbs across the lawn, a fence line packed with debris, blown-down panels, stripped shingles and siding, shed wreckage — once it’s on the ground we cut it into haulable lengths, load it and take it. Text photos as soon as it’s safe to be outside. Big regional storms fill our week quickly, and we schedule as jobs come in instead of keeping a truck on standby.

Two things make storm cleanup price differently from ordinary yard work. The first is cutting: a single large limb across a lawn looks small in a photograph and is usually half a day once somebody has to section it, drag it and load it. The second is water. Soaked carpet, waterlogged furniture and flooded basement contents weigh several times what they weigh dry, and the landfill charges us by the ton — so those loads get priced by weight instead of volume. We’ll tell you which way a load is going before we start.

We also clear the inside after water gets in: ruined furniture and mattresses, soaked carpet and padding, flooded basement contents, dead appliances, and drywall and insulation once somebody has cut it out.

If you need documentation for an insurance claim, say so when you book and we’ll photograph everything in place before anything moves, then again once it’s cleared.

What we won’t do: anything still standing. A tree leaning on a house, a hanging limb, a trunk that has to come down in sections. That needs a licensed arborist with different insurance than ours, and stump grinding is somebody else too. We don’t touch downed power lines or work near them. That’s Delmarva Power or your utility first, and nobody works the yard until they have cleared it.
