Basement and attic cleanouts · MD, DE & PA

Basement & attic
cleanouts.

The two places in a house nobody wants to deal with, for the same reason: everything in them has to come up or down a set of stairs, and it has been accumulating since whoever lived here before you.

What it costs

How this
gets priced

These are priced by volume plus the carry. A basement full of boxes and an attic full of the same boxes cost differently, because getting them out is a different amount of work. Bulkhead access is the cheapest; a pull-down attic ladder at the far end of a hallway is the most expensive. Tell us which you have and the number will be right the first time.

Basement & Attic Cleanouts — what drives the number

We do not publish flat rates, because a hauler who quotes you a price before seeing the job is either padding it or planning to renegotiate in your driveway. Here is exactly how we build a number ›

Worth knowing

Damp, mold,
and when to
call someone else

A damp basement full of ruined furniture is ordinary work and we do it constantly. Wet carpet, soaked boxes, waterlogged couches, and a dead chest freezer are all standard, and the main thing to know is that wet material is heavy — a soaked sofa can weigh three times what it did dry, and that shows up in the price.

Active mold is different. If there is visible growth across surfaces, or the smell hits you at the top of the stairs, you want a remediation contractor in before a hauler. They contain the area and handle the air. We come in behind them and clear what is left. Bringing us first just moves contaminated material through the rest of your house.

Same logic on attic insulation. Removing debris and boxes is our job. Removing and replacing insulation across a whole attic is an insulation contractor’s job, and if there is any chance the material is vermiculite it needs testing before anybody touches it.

Basement & Attic Cleanouts questions

Before
you book

My basement flooded. Can you clear it out?

Yes, as long as the water is gone and there is no active mold problem. Ruined furniture, carpet, pad, boxes, and appliances all go. Wet material is heavy, so expect it to price above what the same load would cost dry.

Can you get things down a pull-down attic ladder?

Yes, and it is slow work, which is why we ask about it up front. If your attic has real stairs, say so — it is genuinely cheaper.

Do you protect the floors on the way out?

Yes. Carry paths get covered, and nothing gets dragged across a finished floor. If we mark something, we tell you rather than hoping you do not notice.

Will you go into a crawlspace?

We will. Tell us roughly what is down there and how tight the access is so we bring the right people.
