How this
gets priced
Garages are priced by volume — how much of the truck the load fills. The reason a garage is usually cheaper per cubic yard than an indoor cleanout is access: we back right up to the door, there are no stairs, and nothing has to be carried through a house.

Two things
to know
Paint, gasoline, solvents, and propane tanks cannot go on the truck. No landfill in Maryland, Delaware, or Pennsylvania will take them from a hauler, and a garage cleanout is the single most likely place for them to turn up. Cecil County runs Household Hazardous Waste collection days a few times a year — call the Solid Waste Management Division at 410-996-6275 for the next date. Delaware and Chester County run equivalent programs.
Empty and fully dried-out paint cans are a different story and those we can take. If the lid comes off and there is nothing liquid inside, it goes.
The other thing worth knowing: garages are usually full of metal, and metal is good news. Old shelving, a dead mower, a bed frame, a pile of scrap — all of it comes out of the load and goes to a recycler instead of onto the landfill scale. On a heavy garage that can be a meaningful share of the tonnage you would otherwise pay for.

Before
you book
Can you take the old paint in my garage?
Only if it is fully dried out and the can is empty. Liquid paint, stain, and solvent have to go to a household hazardous waste collection day — no hauler in this region can legally take them, and any who says otherwise is dumping them somewhere they should not.
Do I need to sort anything first?
No. Pull out what you are keeping, or just point at it and we will work around it. Sorting is part of the job.
What about a propane tank?
Cannot go on the truck. Most propane exchange cages at hardware and grocery stores will take an old tank back, which is the easiest route.
Will you sweep up afterward?
Yes. Broom-swept is how we leave a garage. It is the difference between a hauling job and a cleanout.
