How this gets priced
Hot tubs are quoted individually because almost all of the cost is access, not the tub. The same 400-pound shell is a straightforward job in an open backyard and a genuinely hard one on a second-story deck behind a 32-inch gate. Send photos of the tub and the path from it to the driveway — those two pictures are the whole quote.

Before the day
Two things to get done first
Drain it. Fully. A hot tub holds several hundred gallons, and several hundred gallons weigh over a ton — nothing is moving until that water is out. A submersible pump from a hardware store does it in an hour or two, and it needs to go somewhere that won’t flood a neighbor or a storm drain.
Get the power disconnected properly. Most tubs are hardwired to a dedicated GFCI breaker, and that disconnect is an electrician’s job, not ours and not a homeowner’s. We won’t cut into a live circuit, so if it isn’t disconnected when we arrive, the job doesn’t happen that day.
Once those two things are done, the rest is ours. We cut the shell into sections that will fit through whatever gate or path exists, pull the pump, heater, and jets for metal recycling, and take the whole thing out. Most tubs are gone in a couple of hours.

Before you book
Do I have to drain it first?
Yes. A full tub weighs more than a ton and can’t be moved or cut. A cheap submersible pump handles it — just make sure the water goes somewhere sensible.
Who disconnects the power?
A licensed electrician. Hot tubs are usually hardwired to a dedicated breaker and we won’t work on a live circuit. It needs to be done before our arrival or we’ll have to reschedule.
Can you get it out if my gate is narrow?
Almost always. We cut the shell into sections on site — that’s the standard method, and it’s why gate width is rarely the thing that stops a job. Send a photo of the gate anyway so we bring the right saw.
What if it’s on a raised deck?
Doable, and it costs more because there’s more cutting and more carrying. Send a photo showing the deck and the route down to ground level and we’ll quote it accurately.
