Cecil County runs its own disposal system and everything we pull out of a Chesapeake City property stays inside it. The Central Landfill sits at 758 East Old Philadelphia Road in Elkton, open Monday through Saturday, 7:30am to 3:30pm.
Worth knowing, because it catches people out: the county’s two transfer stations — Woodlawn on Waibel Road in Colora and Stemmer’s Run in Earleville — only take bagged household trash and recyclables. Bulky waste, furniture, construction debris and cleanout material all have to go to the Central Landfill in Elkton, no matter which corner of the county it came from. So if you were planning to run a load to whichever one is closest to you, it will get turned away at the gate.
The scale house weighs trucks in and out and charges by the ton. That is the whole reason we ask for photos before quoting: the weight of a load is most of the cost of a load, and guessing at it over the phone helps nobody.
One more thing if you are comparing haulers — Cecil County facilities will not accept waste generated outside the county, and the reverse is true too. A hauler running your Chesapeake City debris out of the county is paying to do it, and that shows up in your price.

Can you get a truck into the historic district?
Depends on the street. Some of the blocks on the north side are too tight for a loaded dump trailer, so we bring smaller equipment and make an extra trip rather than block the road or scrape a parked car. It does not usually change the price, but it does change the schedule, so it helps to know in advance.
Do you work the south side of the canal too?
Yes — south Chesapeake City, Bohemia Manor, and out toward Cecilton and Earleville. It is all Cecil County, so it all runs through the same disposal system and prices the same way.
